You know what’s better than spending girls day with 2 of your favorite people? Finding a great new coffee café! A couple of weeks ago as we were headed out to enjoy a treat to start our day, one of the girls suggested we try this place Java Square Café in Opelousas. She had been a couple weeks prior and fell in love with it and I immediately knew why. This adorable space is the building that once was home to the Parish Trust and Savings Bank built in 1927.
We enjoyed our coffee inside the space that was previously a vault, complete with the vault door that now has a glass cover showing the inner workings of the lock mechanism.
The owners have done a great job of utilizing the history of the space making it a comfortable and inviting place to relax and work or even enjoy a work meeting.
Java Square has a private balcony area upstairs that is perfect for a group gathering.
The menu includes a variety of coffee from Rêve coffee, a micro-roaster located in Lafayette, Louisiana, as well as an array of baked goods.
If you are hungry for lunch, Java Square serves gourmet sandwiches and, at the time of this writing, salads are coming soon.
You can even grab a bag of fresh or ground Rêve coffee to go.
Java Square Café is located in Opelousas, LA at 103 West Landry, just across from the courthouse. You might enjoy taking a walk around the square and seeing the different fiddles on display, all painted to reflect local culture.
Java Square Café is open Monday – Friday, 7am-6pm and Saturday-Sunday, 8am-4pm.
